Metabolic Testing

Preparation and What to Expect

VO2max Testing

(See Below for RMR Testing)

 

In order to assure that VO2max testing results are accurate, please review the following guidelines:

 

  1. Wear your typical training attire, including your typical footwear. Testing will occur inside on a treadmill, so shorts and t-shirt are recommended to avoid overheating.

  2. If you are coming in to be tested on your bike, wear your appropriate cycling attire. Do not forget: your bike, your shoes, your trainer, and the appropriate skewer that works with your trainer.

  3. Avoid eating or drinking 4 hours before your test.

  4. Avoid alcohol the day before testing.

  5. Avoid caffeine 4 hours before your test.

  6. Attempt to avoid exercise the day of testing and avoid any moderate-rigorous workouts (above zone 2) for 24 hours.

 

What to expect:

 

To prepare for testing, we will fit you with a heart rate monitor and mask to monitor your heart rate and respiratory exchange rate.

 

To complete an accurate VO2max test, we will bring you through a graded exercise protocol during which we will gradually and systematically increase your effort until you have reached your maximum effort. The test should last for approximately 8-10 minutes.

 

At the conclusion of the test, we will take your information to prepare a report consisting of several metrics to maximize your training and performance.

            VO2max Report + Precision Nutrition Plan: $

 

Because your metabolic profile will change due to altered training and nutritional habits, it is recommended to get follow-up testing based on your goals. After the initial assessment, you can subscribe for follow-up testing and updated nutrition plans. For VO2Max testing, subscription is based on a monthly or quarterly basis. There is a 6-month minimum for a monthly subscription plan and a 4 visit (1 year) minimum for a quarterly subscription plan. After this time, you may cancel your subscription at any time.

 

VO2max Report: $/Month or $/Quarter

VO2max Report + Precision Nutrition Plan: $/Month

Resting Metabolic Profile (RMP)

 

In order to assure that resting metabolic profile testing results are accurate, please review the following guidelines:

 

  1. Wear comfortable clothing

  2. Avoid eating or drinking 4 hours before your test.

  3. Avoid alcohol the day before testing.

  4. Avoid caffeine for 4 hours before testing.

  5. Attempt to avoid exercise the day of testing and avoid any moderate-rigorous workouts (above zone 2) for 24 hours.

 

What to expect:

 

To prepare for testing, we will fit you with a heart rate monitor and mask to monitor your heart rate and respiratory exchange rate.

 

You will then lay quietly while the testing equipment does all the work.

 

The test takes about 15 minutes to complete.

*Custom meal plans are for one month and can be individualized based on diet restrictions.
