Maintain your health with Acupuncture
When you think about ways to maintain your health, what comes to mind? For the majority of us, we think about a healthy diet, regular exercise, getting enough sleep and drinking all the water. But have you ever thought about incorporating acupuncture into your routine?
Most people are seeking acupuncture care for a certain condition or ailment that they are currently dealing with, but what if you are less likely to suffer from those ailments in the first place? The list of conditions acupuncture can help with is endless, but regular acupuncture incorporated into your healthy routine can help you to avoid some of these conditions.
Positive Effects of Acupuncture
Regardless of why you seek acupuncture care for that first visit, you will feel positive effects throughout the entire body. Acupuncture care is working on the qi, or energy channels, within the body so no matter where the treatment is occurring, the entire body will feel the beneficial effects. Your energy, qi, is continuously moving throughout your body and ailments occur when there is a blockage or lack of movement of the energy. Stimulating specific acupuncture points will release that qi and create a steady flow of energy. As a result of this, acupuncture can help to improve the overall functioning of the body- boosting your immune system, promote healthy gut health, and help your body to manage stress.
There are many ways that acupuncture can help mental health as well. We are in a non-stop world bouncing from one thing to the next. Acupuncture can be a very relaxing experience. There are specific points, when stimulated, cause the body to instantly relax.
Along with the specific points used for stress relief and relaxation, there is a side of talk therapy during your appointments. Since appointments range from 45 minutes to 1 hour, you are given time to spend discussing your conditions, treatment goals, and sometimes just to chat.
Adding Acupuncture to your Routine
Adding more to your routine can be daunting and a little overwhelming, but don't fear, adding acupuncture doesn't require you to completely change your schedule. So how often should you seek acupuncture care? There isn't really a clear answer, it all depends on the individual. For general wellness or maintenance care, every month to 6 weeks is a great way to start. Again, treatment plans are very specific to the individual and are designed with you in mind!
What can you expect on the first appointment?
So what can you expect for your first appointment? Each new patient starts by filling out a questionnaire. The questions asked are those relating to the meridian channels to help get a better understanding of what may be going on in all systems. The appointment consists of an exam and then treatment. Rest assured, you will be treated in a private room with a heated massage bed to rest comfortably during your appointment.
